Jonathan Marchessault is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who has had a successful career in the National Hockey League (NHL). He began his career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Quebec Remparts, where he played from 2008 to 2011. During his time with the Remparts, Marchessault was a prolific scorer, recording 90 goals and 123 assists in 179 games.

After his junior career, Marchessault signed as an undrafted free agent with the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2011. He spent the majority of the next two seasons with the Whale, but also had brief stints with the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets.

In 2013, Marchessault signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning and spent the next two seasons bouncing between the NHL and AHL. He finally established himself as a full-time NHL player in the 2015-16 season, recording 18 goals and 36 points in 45 games. Marchessault was a key contributor for the Lightning in the playoffs that year, scoring five goals and 11 points in 17 games as they reached the Eastern Conference Final.

Despite his strong performance, Marchessault was left unprotected in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft and was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights. He had a breakout season with the Golden Knights in their inaugural season, scoring 27 goals and 75 points in 77 games. Marchessault was a key part of the Golden Knights' run to the Stanley Cup Final, scoring eight goals and 21 points in 20 playoff games.

Marchessault continued to be a productive player for the Golden Knights over the next few seasons, recording 22 goals and 59 points in 2018-19 and 22 goals and 47 points in 2019-20. He was also named to the NHL All-Star Game in 2018 and 2019.

In 2021, Marchessault was traded to the Florida Panthers, where he continued to be a productive player. He recorded 14 goals and 36 points in 45 games in his first season with the Panthers.

Throughout his career, Marchessault has been known for his speed, skill, and scoring ability. He has also been a reliable two-way player, contributing on both offense and defense. Despite going undrafted and facing challenges early in his career, Marchessault has established himself as a top NHL player and has been a key part of his teams' success.
