Kevin Faulk is a former American football running back who played for the New England Patriots in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on June 5, 1976, in Lafayette, Louisiana, and attended Carencro High School, where he played football and track. Faulk was a standout athlete in high school, earning All-State honors in football and winning the state championship in the 100-meter dash.
Faulk went on to play college football at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he was a three-time All-SEC selection and a two-time All-American. He finished his college career with 4,557 rushing yards, 2,227 receiving yards, and 53 touchdowns. Faulk was also a standout kick returner, setting an SEC record with 5,854 all-purpose yards.
Faulk was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He quickly became a key player for the Patriots, serving as a third-down back and a kick returner. Faulk was known for his versatility, as he could run, catch, and block effectively. He was also a reliable receiver out of the backfield, catching 431 passes for 3,701 yards and 15 touchdowns in his career.
Faulk played in four Super Bowls with the Patriots, winning three of them (XXXVI, XXXVIII, and XXXIX). He was a key player in the Patriots' Super Bowl XXXVI victory over the St. Louis Rams, catching three passes for 34 yards and rushing for 13 yards. Faulk also played a key role in the Patriots' Super Bowl XXXVIII victory over the Carolina Panthers, catching four passes for 46 yards and rushing for 29 yards.
Faulk retired from the NFL in 2012 after playing 13 seasons with the Patriots. He finished his career with 3,607 rushing yards, 3,701 receiving yards, and 31 touchdowns. Faulk was also a standout kick returner, returning 101 kickoffs for 2,165 yards and one touchdown.
