Lance Parrish is a former American professional baseball player and coach, who is best known for his successful career as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). Parrish was born on June 15, 1956, in Clairton, Pennsylvania. He began his baseball career in the minor leagues, playing for the Bristol Tigers and the Montgomery Rebels before being called up to the Detroit Tigers in 1977.

Parrish played for the Detroit Tigers from 1977 to 1986, where he established himself as one of the best catchers in the league. He was a six-time All-Star and won three Gold Gloves during his time with the Tigers. Parrish was also known for his power hitting, hitting 30 or more home runs in four different seasons.

After leaving the Tigers, Parrish played for several other teams including the Philadelphia Phillies, California Angels, Seattle Mariners, Cleveland Indians, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He retired as a player in 1995.

Following his playing career, Parrish became a coach in the minor leagues, working as a manager and hitting coach for various teams. He also served as a coach for the Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, and Los Angeles Angels. In 2014, Parrish was named the manager of the West Michigan Whitecaps, a minor league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
