Larry Staverman was a professional basketball player who played for several teams during his career. He was born on January 4, 1936, in Reading, Ohio, and attended high school in nearby Lockland. Staverman played college basketball at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a standout player and helped lead the team to the NCAA Tournament in 1958.

After college, Staverman was drafted by the Cincinnati Royals in the 1958 NBA Draft. He played for the Royals for two seasons before being traded to the Detroit Pistons in 1960. Staverman played for the Pistons for three seasons before being traded to the Baltimore Bullets in 1963. He played for the Bullets for one season before being traded to the Chicago Bulls in 1964.

Staverman played for the Bulls for two seasons before being traded to the Seattle SuperSonics in 1967. He played for the SuperSonics for one season before being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in 1970. Staverman played for the Trail Blazers for one season before retiring from professional basketball in 1971.

During his career, Staverman was known for his defensive skills and his ability to rebound the ball. He was also a solid scorer, averaging 8.8 points per game over his career. Staverman was a versatile player who could play multiple positions, which made him a valuable asset to his teams.

After retiring from basketball, Staverman went on to coach at the high school and college levels. He coached at the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University before becoming the head coach at the University of Dayton in 1978.
