Lawrence Timmons is a former American football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for over a decade. He was born on May 14, 1986, in Florence, South Carolina, and attended Wilson High School, where he played football and basketball.

After high school, Timmons enrolled at Florida State University, where he played college football for the Florida State Seminoles. He was a standout player for the Seminoles, earning All-ACC honors in 2006 and being named the team's MVP in 2007.

In the 2007 NFL Draft, Timmons was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round, 15th overall. He spent the first ten years of his NFL career with the Steelers, becoming a key member of their defense. Timmons was known for his versatility, as he could play both inside and outside linebacker positions.

During his time with the Steelers, Timmons helped the team win two AFC Championships and one Super Bowl (Super Bowl XLIII). He was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2014.

In 2017, Timmons signed with the Miami Dolphins as a free agent. However, his time with the Dolphins was short-lived, as he was suspended for one game after going AWOL before the team's season opener. He was then traded to the Arizona Cardinals, but was released before playing a game for them.

Timmons announced his retirement from the NFL in 2019, after playing 11 seasons in the league. Over the course of his career, he recorded 981 tackles, 35.5 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, and 12 interceptions.

Off the field, Timmons has been involved in various charitable endeavors, including the Lawrence Timmons Foundation, which provides support to underprivileged children and families in his hometown of Florence, South Carolina.
