Leo Cloutier, a noted sportscaster and writer, had a passion for baseball from a young age. Raised in a small town in New Hampshire, Leo's talent for writing was recognized by his teachers. His journey began when he wrote a letter to Connie Mack, the owner of the Philadelphia Athletics, expressing his interest in becoming the team mascot. Recognizing Leo's writing skills, Mack advised him to pursue a career in reporting baseball.

Leo E. Cloutier went on to cover Major League Baseball from 1933 to 1988. During this time, he wrote daily and weekly columns for newspapers in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine. Starting as a cub reporter for the Berlin NH Herald, Leo interviewed Babe Ruth for his first assignment. He later worked for the Berlin Reporter before joining The Manchester Union Leader as a sports editor. Leo organized and directed the annual Baseball Dinner for 40 years during his time at The Manchester Union Leader.

In addition to his newspaper columns, Leo had a syndicated column in 47 New England newspapers and hosted a radio show where he conducted interviews with legendary sports figures.
