Les Richter was an American football player who enjoyed a successful career in the National Football League (NFL). He was born in Fresno, California in 1930 and attended Fresno High School, where he was a standout athlete in both football and basketball. After high school, Richter attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he was an All-American in football and played in the 1952 Rose Bowl.

Richter was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1954 and played for them for eight seasons. He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was named All-Pro five times. He was also named to the NFL's 1950s All-Decade Team. Richter was known for his hard-hitting style of play and was a key member of the Rams' "Fearsome Foursome" defensive line.

Richter was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in 1962 and retired shortly thereafter. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

Richter was also a successful businessman after his football career. He served as the vice president of the Rams from 1972 to 1994 and was the president of Riverside International Raceway from its opening in 1957 until its closure in 1989. He was also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame.

Richter passed away in 2010 at the age of 79. He was remembered as one of the greatest players in NFL history and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011. His legacy as one of the greatest defensive players of all time will live on forever.
