Logan Couture is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who has had a successful career in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on March 28, 1989, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Couture began his hockey career playing for the Ottawa 67's in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2005 to 2009. He was then drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the first round, ninth overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Couture made his NHL debut with the Sharks in the 2009-2010 season and quickly established himself as a key player on the team. He was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in his first season and helped lead the Sharks to the Western Conference Finals. Couture continued to excel in the following seasons, becoming one of the Sharks' top scorers and earning a reputation as a clutch player in important games.
In the 2015-2016 season, Couture had a breakout year, setting career highs in goals (36) and points (67) and leading the Sharks to the Stanley Cup Finals. Although the Sharks ultimately lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Finals, Couture's performance earned him the title of the NHL's leading scorer in the playoffs and the Joe Thornton Trophy as the Sharks' leading scorer in the regular season.
Couture continued to be a key player for the Sharks in the following seasons, serving as an alternate captain and helping the team reach the playoffs multiple times. He was also recognized for his leadership and sportsmanship, winning the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2020 for his contributions to the community and the game of hockey.
In addition to his success in the NHL, Couture has also represented Canada on the international stage. He won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Championships and played for Canada at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
