Lou Hudson, also known as Sweet Lou, was an American professional basketball player who had a successful career in the NBA. He was a six-time All-Star and a two-time All-NBA Second Team selection.

Hudson was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and attended the University of Minnesota. He was selected fourth overall in the 1966 NBA draft by the St. Louis Hawks. He played for the Hawks for four seasons before being traded to the Atlanta Hawks in 1970.

Hudson was an excellent shooter and scorer. He averaged over 20 points per game in each of his first five seasons in the NBA. He was also a great passer, averaging over four assists per game in his career. He was known for his ability to score from anywhere on the court, and he was one of the first players to use the jump shot as a primary scoring weapon.

Hudson was a six-time All-Star and a two-time All-NBA Second Team selection. He was also named to the All-Rookie Team in 1967. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.

Hudson retired in 1979 after 13 seasons in the NBA. He finished his career with 16,049 points, 4,039 rebounds, and 3,023 assists. He was one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history, and he was a key contributor to the success of the Atlanta Hawks during his tenure.
