Marc Iavaroni is a former professional basketball player and coach. He played college basketball at the University of Virginia, where he was a standout player and earned All-ACC honors. After college, Iavaroni was drafted by the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers in the 10th round of the 1979 draft, but he did not make the team.

Iavaroni then played professionally in Italy for several years before returning to the United States to play in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He played for several CBA teams, including the Albany Patroons, where he won two championships and was named the league's MVP in 1984.

In 1986, Iavaroni finally made it to the NBA, signing with the Utah Jazz. He played for the Jazz for two seasons before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs. He played for the Spurs for one season before being traded again, this time to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played for the Cavaliers for one season before retiring from playing in the NBA.

After retiring from playing, Iavaroni began his coaching career. He started as an assistant coach for the Miami Heat, where he worked for two seasons. He then became an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he worked for one season. He then became an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns, where he worked for five seasons.

In 2007, Iavaroni was hired as the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. He coached the Grizzlies for one and a half seasons before being fired in 2009. He then became an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors, where he worked for one season.

Iavaroni's coaching career also included stints as the head coach of the Yakima Sun Kings in the CBA and the Idaho Stampede in the NBA Development League. He also worked as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Throughout his basketball career, Iavaroni was known for his hard work, dedication, and basketball IQ.
