Mike Gartner is one of the most successful hockey players of all time. He was drafted fourth overall in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. He went on to have a successful career with the Capitals, playing in 758 games and scoring 397 goals. He was named to the NHL All-Star team seven times and was the fastest player to reach 500 goals.

Gartner was traded to the Minnesota North Stars in 1989 and then to the New York Rangers in 1991. He continued to be a prolific scorer, reaching the 50-goal mark in six consecutive seasons. He was also named to the NHL All-Star team four more times.

Gartner was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1994 and then to the Phoenix Coyotes in 1996. He retired in 1998 after playing in 1,432 NHL games and scoring 708 goals. He is currently sixth on the NHL's all-time goal scoring list.

Gartner was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001. He was also named to the NHL's 100 Greatest Players list in 2017. He is remembered as one of the greatest goal scorers in NHL history and is still revered by hockey fans around the world.
