Mitch Moreland is a former professional baseball player who played as a first baseman and designated hitter. He was born on September 6, 1985, in Amory, Mississippi, and attended Mississippi State University. Moreland was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 17th round of the 2007 MLB draft.

Moreland made his MLB debut with the Rangers in 2010 and quickly established himself as a reliable player. He was known for his strong defense and consistent hitting, which earned him a spot on the American League All-Star team in 2018. Moreland played for the Rangers for seven seasons before being traded to the Boston Red Sox in 2017.

During his time with the Red Sox, Moreland continued to be a valuable player, helping the team win the World Series in 2018. He hit a crucial three-run home run in Game 4 of the series, which helped secure the victory for the Red Sox. Moreland also won a Gold Glove award in 2016 for his outstanding defensive play at first base.

In addition to his success with the Rangers and Red Sox, Moreland also played for the San Diego Padres and Oakland Athletics later in his career. He retired from professional baseball in 2021 after 12 seasons in the MLB.
