Petr Nedved is a former Czech-Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for over a decade. He was born on December 9, 1971, in Liberec, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic).
Nedved began his professional career in 1989 when he was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in the 1990-91 season and played for the Canucks for four seasons before being traded to the St. Louis Blues in 1995.
Nedved played for the Blues for two seasons before being traded to the New York Rangers in 1998. It was with the Rangers that Nedved had some of his best seasons, including the 1999-2000 season when he scored a career-high 45 goals and 99 points.
After four seasons with the Rangers, Nedved was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2004. He played for the Oilers for one season before being traded to the Phoenix Coyotes in 2005. Nedved played for the Coyotes for two seasons before returning to the Rangers in 2007.
Throughout his NHL career, Nedved was known for his offensive skills and his ability to score goals. He scored a total of 310 goals and 407 assists for 717 points in 982 regular-season games. He also played in 97 playoff games, scoring 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points.
