Randy Wittman is a former professional basketball player and coach. He played college basketball at Indiana University, where he was a member of the 1981 national championship team. After college, Wittman was selected by the Washington Bullets in the first round of the 1983 NBA draft.

Wittman played in the NBA for 10 seasons, spending time with the Bullets, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, and Indiana Pacers. He was known for his shooting ability, particularly from beyond the arc, and was a career 38.1% three-point shooter.

After retiring as a player, Wittman began his coaching career as an assistant with the Pacers. He later served as an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves before being named head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1999.

Wittman's tenure in Cleveland was short-lived, as he was fired after just two seasons. He then returned to the Pacers as an assistant coach, where he helped the team reach the NBA Finals in 2000.

In 2007, Wittman was named head coach of the Timberwolves. He led the team to a 22-60 record in his first season, but was fired midway through his second season after a 4-15 start.

Wittman then returned to the Pacers as an assistant coach for two seasons before being named head coach of the Washington Wizards in 2012. He led the team to the playoffs in his second season, but was fired midway through the 2015-16 season after a disappointing start.

Overall, Wittman's coaching record is 278-403 (.408) in 681 games. He is known for his defensive-minded approach and his ability to develop young players.
