Rich Miano is a former American football player who played as a safety in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He was born on June 17, 1963, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and attended Kaiser High School in Honolulu. Miano played college football at the University of Hawaii, where he was a standout player and earned All-WAC honors in 1983 and 1984.

After college, Miano signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 1985. He played for the Jets for four seasons, from 1985 to 1988, and was a key contributor on special teams. In 1989, Miano signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played for two seasons, from 1989 to 1990. He played in all 32 games during his time with the Eagles and recorded two interceptions.

In 1991, Miano signed with the Atlanta Falcons, where he played for three seasons, from 1991 to 1993. He was a starter for the Falcons and recorded a career-high four interceptions in 1992. In 1994, Miano signed with the San Francisco 49ers, where he played in 14 games and recorded one interception.

Miano retired from the NFL after the 1994 season and returned to Hawaii, where he became a high school football coach. He coached at his alma mater, Kaiser High School, from 1995 to 1999, and then at Saint Louis School from 2000 to 2011. Miano was a successful coach, leading Saint Louis to four state championships and earning numerous coaching awards.

In addition to his coaching career, Miano has been involved in various community and charitable organizations in Hawaii. He founded the Hawaii Gridiron League, a semi-professional football league, in 1998 and served as its commissioner for several years. He has also been involved with the Special Olympics, the American Heart Association, and other organizations.
