Rod Higgins is a former professional basketball player who had a successful career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as both a player and executive. Higgins was born on January 31, 1960, in Monroe, Louisiana, and attended California State University, Fresno, where he played college basketball.

Higgins was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the second round of the 1982 NBA draft. He played for the Bulls for two seasons before being traded to the Seattle SuperSonics in 1984. Higgins played for the SuperSonics for two seasons before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1986. He played for the Spurs for two seasons before being traded to the Golden State Warriors in 1988.

Higgins played for the Warriors for four seasons and was a key player on the team that won the NBA championship in 1990. He then played for the New Jersey Nets for one season before retiring from playing in 1995.

After retiring from playing, Higgins began a career in basketball management. He worked as an assistant coach for the Warriors for two seasons before being hired as the general manager of the Washington Wizards in 1999. Higgins worked for the Wizards for four seasons before being hired as the general manager of the Charlotte Bobcats in 2004.

Higgins worked for the Bobcats for seven seasons and was instrumental in building the team that made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history in 2010. He then worked as the director of player personnel for the Orlando Magic for one season before being hired as the president of basketball operations for the Golden State Warriors in 2011.

Higgins worked for the Warriors for four seasons and was part of the team that won the NBA championship in 2015. He left the Warriors in 2015 to become the general manager of the Charlotte Hornets, where he worked until 2018.

Throughout his career, Higgins was known for his work ethic, leadership, and ability to build successful teams. He was respected by players, coaches, and executives throughout the NBA and was considered one of the top executives in the league. Today, Higgins is retired from basketball and lives in North Carolina with his family.
