Scott Howson is a former professional ice hockey player and executive who has had a long and successful career in the sport. He began his career as a player, playing for the Kingston Canadians in the Ontario Hockey League before being drafted by the New York Islanders in 1982. He played for several teams in the minor leagues before retiring as a player in 1988.

After retiring as a player, Howson began his career as a coach and executive. In 2012, Howson was hired by the Columbus Blue Jackets as their general manager. During his time with the team, he oversaw several key trades and signings that helped turn the Blue Jackets into a playoff contender. He also helped develop several young players who would go on to become stars in the NHL, including Ryan Johansen and Cam Atkinson.

Despite his success with the Blue Jackets, Howson was fired from his position as general manager in 2013. He then took a job as a scout for the Edmonton Oilers, where he worked until 2018. In 2019, he was hired by the Edmonton Oilers as their director of player development, a position he still holds today.
