Steve Cishek is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for several teams during his career. He was born on June 18, 1986, in Falmouth, Massachusetts, and attended Carson-Newman University in Tennessee.

Cishek was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the fifth round of the 2007 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Marlins in 2010 and quickly established himself as a reliable relief pitcher. He spent five seasons with the Marlins, earning 88 saves and a 2.63 ERA in 284 appearances.

In 2015, Cishek was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals, where he played for just one season before being traded again, this time to the Seattle Mariners. He spent two and a half seasons with the Mariners, earning 25 saves and a 2.55 ERA in 136 appearances.

Cishek then signed with the Chicago Cubs in December 2017, where he spent two seasons as a key member of the bullpen. He earned 11 saves and a 2.55 ERA in 150 appearances for the Cubs.

In 2020, Cishek signed with the Chicago White Sox, where he played in 22 games and earned a 5.40 ERA before being released in September. He then signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros in January 2021 but was released in March before the start of the season.

Throughout his career, Cishek was known for his unique sidearm delivery and his ability to induce ground balls. He was also a reliable closer, earning 132 saves in his career.

Cishek announced his retirement from baseball on June 1, 2021, after 11 seasons in the major leagues. He finished his career with a 32-38 record, 2.78 ERA, and 132 saves in 594 appearances.
