Steve Duchesne is a former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 16 seasons. He was born on June 30, 1965, in Sept-Îles, Quebec, Canada. Duchesne began his hockey career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Drummondville Voltigeurs in 1982. He played for the Voltigeurs for three seasons and was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.
Duchesne made his NHL debut with the Kings in the 1986-87 season and quickly established himself as a reliable defenseman. He played for the Kings for four seasons before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1991. Duchesne played for the Flyers for two seasons before being traded to the Quebec Nordiques in 1993. He played for the Nordiques for one season before being traded back to the Kings in 1994.
Duchesne played for the Kings for two more seasons before being traded to the St. Louis Blues in 1996. He played for the Blues for three seasons before being traded to the Detroit Red Wings in 1999. Duchesne won his first Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in the 2001-02 season. He retired from professional hockey after the 2002-03 season.
Duchesne was known for his offensive skills as a defenseman. He scored 227 goals and 439 assists for a total of 666 points in 1,113 NHL games. He was also a two-time NHL All-Star, representing the Kings in 1989 and the Blues in 1997.
