Taylor Chorney is a former professional ice hockey player who played as a defenseman. He was born on April 27, 1987, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Chorney started his hockey career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2003. He played for the Oil Kings for four seasons, from 2003 to 2007, and was named the team's captain in his final season.

In 2005, Chorney was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Oilers in the 2008-09 season, playing in two games. Chorney spent most of his time in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Springfield Falcons, the Oilers' affiliate team.

In 2010, Chorney was traded to the St. Louis Blues, where he played for two seasons. He split his time between the Blues and their AHL affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. In 2012, Chorney signed with the Washington Capitals as a free agent. He played for the Capitals for three seasons, from 2012 to 2015, and was primarily a depth defenseman.

Chorney's next stop was with the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he played for one season in 2015-16. He played in 55 games for the Penguins, recording six points. Chorney then signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets as a free agent in 2016. He played in 13 games for the Blue Jackets before being claimed off waivers by the Capitals in December 2016.

Chorney played in 18 games for the Capitals during the 2016-17 season, recording two assists. He also played in four playoff games as the Capitals were eliminated in the second round. Chorney spent most of the 2017-18 season in the AHL with the Hershey Bears, the Capitals' affiliate team. He played in just two NHL games for the Capitals that season before being traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in February 2018.

Chorney played in just one game for the Blue Jackets before being placed on waivers and ultimately being sent down to the AHL. He played in 16 games for the Cleveland Monsters, the Blue Jackets' affiliate team, before being released at the end of the season. Chorney announced his retirement from professional hockey in August 2018.

Throughout his career, Chorney played in a total of 167 NHL games, recording two goals and 23 assists. He also played in 365 AHL games, recording 22 goals and 105 assists. Chorney was known for his solid defensive play and his ability to move the puck up the ice. He was a reliable depth defenseman who could be counted on to play a steady game when called upon.
