McDaniel was selected by the Los Angeles Raiders in the first round of the 1988 NFL Draft, and he played for the team for nine seasons. He was known for his speed, agility, and coverage skills, and he quickly established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He was named to the Pro Bowl five times during his career, and he was also named a first-team All-Pro in 1994.
