Travis Benjamin is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He was born on December 29, 1989, in Belle Glade, Florida, and attended Glades Central High School, where he played football and ran track.
Benjamin played college football at the University of Miami, where he was a standout wide receiver and return specialist. He was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft and spent four seasons with the team. During his time in Cleveland, Benjamin established himself as a speedy and elusive receiver, capable of making big plays downfield. He also returned punts and kickoffs for the Browns, earning a reputation as one of the league's top return men.
In 2016, Benjamin signed with the San Diego Chargers as a free agent. He played two seasons with the team, putting up solid numbers as a receiver and returner. In 2018, he signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he played for two more seasons. During his time with the Chargers, Benjamin continued to be a reliable receiver and return man, but his production declined somewhat as he battled injuries.
In 2020, Benjamin signed with the San Francisco 49ers, but he was released before the start of the regular season. He later signed with the New York Giants, where he played in two games before being released again. In January 2021, Benjamin signed a reserve/future contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, but he was released in May of that year.
Throughout his NFL career, Benjamin was known for his speed and agility, as well as his ability to make big plays in the passing game and on special teams. He finished his career with 208 receptions for 3,143 yards and 19 touchdowns, as well as 1,431 punt return yards and 2,790 kickoff return yards. While he never achieved superstar status in the NFL, Benjamin was a solid contributor for several teams and earned the respect of his coaches and teammates.
