Tyson Ross is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for several teams during his career. He was born on April 22, 1987, in Berkeley, California, and attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he played college baseball for the California Golden Bears.

Ross was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the second round of the 2008 MLB draft and made his major league debut with the team in 2010. He spent three seasons with the Athletics, posting a 21-19 record with a 3.95 ERA in 64 starts.

In 2013, Ross was traded to the San Diego Padres, where he spent the next four seasons. He had his best season in 2014, when he went 13-14 with a 2.81 ERA and was named to the National League All-Star team. He also finished in the top ten in the NL Cy Young Award voting that year.

After the 2016 season, Ross became a free agent and signed with the Texas Rangers. He struggled with injuries during his time with the Rangers, making just 10 starts in 2017 and missing the entire 2018 season due to thoracic outlet syndrome surgery.

Ross signed with the Detroit Tigers in 2019 but was released in August after posting a 1-5 record with a 6.11 ERA in 9 starts. He then signed with the St. Louis Cardinals but did not make an appearance for the team.

Overall, Ross had a career record of 44-70 with a 4.04 ERA in 189 games (153 starts) over 10 seasons. He was known for his sinker and slider, which helped him induce ground balls and strikeouts throughout his career.
