Vaclav Prospal is a former professional ice hockey player from the Czech Republic. He began his career in the Czech Extraliga before being drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. Prospal made his NHL debut in the 1996-97 season and played for several teams throughout his career, including the Flyers, Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Anaheim Ducks, New York Rangers, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
Prospal was known for his versatility on the ice, playing both center and left wing positions. He was also a skilled playmaker and scorer, with a career total of 255 goals and 765 points in 1,108 NHL games. Prospal was particularly successful during his time with the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he helped lead the team to a Stanley Cup championship in 2004. He also had a career-high 80 points during the 2005-06 season.
In addition to his NHL career, Prospal also represented the Czech Republic in international competition. He played in several World Championships and was a member of the Czech team that won the gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
Prospal retired from professional hockey in 2014 and has since worked as a coach and analyst. He has also been involved in various charitable endeavors, including the Vaclav Prospal Foundation, which supports children's hospitals and other organizations that help children in need.
