Wes Helms is a former professional baseball player who played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) as a third baseman and first baseman. He was born on May 12, 1976, in Gastonia, North Carolina, and attended Ashbrook High School in Gastonia.

Helms was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the tenth round of the 1994 MLB draft. He spent several years in the Braves' minor league system before making his MLB debut with the team in 1998. He played for the Braves until 2002, primarily as a backup infielder.

In 2003, Helms signed with the Milwaukee Brewers as a free agent. He played for the Brewers for two seasons, primarily as a third baseman. In 2005, he was traded to the Florida Marlins, where he played for three seasons. During his time with the Marlins, Helms played both third base and first base and was known for his clutch hitting and solid defense.

In 2008, Helms signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent. He played for the Phillies for two seasons, primarily as a pinch hitter and backup first baseman. He was a member of the Phillies' 2008 World Series championship team.

After his time with the Phillies, Helms signed with the Marlins again in 2010. He played for the Marlins for two more seasons before retiring from baseball in 2012.

Throughout his career, Helms was known for his versatility and ability to play multiple positions. He was also known for his clutch hitting and solid defense. He finished his career with a .256 batting average, 75 home runs, and 374 RBIs.

Since retiring from baseball, Helms has worked as a coach and instructor. He has also been involved in various charitable organizations, including the Miracle League of Miami-Dade, which provides opportunities for children with disabilities to play baseball.
