William Northey was a Canadian professional hockey player who played in the National Hockey Association (NHA) and the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA). He was born in Ontario in 1885 and began his hockey career in 1906 with the Montreal Wanderers. He was a strong skater and a great stickhandler, and he was known for his ability to score goals.

Northey was a member of the Wanderers for two seasons before moving to the Toronto Professionals of the NHA in 1908. He was a key member of the team, helping them to the NHA championship in 1909. He also played for the Renfrew Creamery Kings of the NHA in 1910 and 1911, and then moved to the Vancouver Millionaires of the PCHA in 1912.

Northey was an integral part of the Millionaires, helping them to the PCHA championship in 1914 and 1915. He was also a member of the Seattle Metropolitans in 1916 and 1917, and helped them to the Stanley Cup in 1917. He then returned to the Millionaires in 1918 and was a key member of the team until his retirement in 1923.

Throughout his career, Northey was known for his strong skating and stickhandling abilities, as well as his ability to score goals. He was also known for his leadership skills, and he was a respected member of every team he played for.
