The Arizona Cardinals announced that they agreed to terms with tight end Zach Ertz to return to the team on a three-year contract. They retain him after acquiring him in a midseason trade. - The initial report said it maintained Ertz among the 10 highest-paid tight ends in the NFL. - ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler had further details of the deal with some of the financials. - According to Fowler, the three-year contract is for $31.65 million, including $17.5 million guaranteed. - What will be interesting to see in the days to come is how much he receives to sign and what his salary cap hit will be this coming season. - Based on how other contracts have been handled, the guaranteed number will likely include the signing bonus, this year’s salary and at least a portion of his 2023 salary. To reduce the cap hit, there could also be voiding years on the back end. - But the Cardinals retain an offensive weapon whom Kyler Murray trusts. With the return of DeAndre Hopkins from his knee injury, the passing game should be in good shape. - - List - - 6 potential free agent fits and targets for Cardinals at WR - - - - - - - Listen to the latest from Cards Wire’s Jess Root on his podcast, Rise Up, See Red.
