The Arizona Cardinals are wrapping up the second week of free agency and don’t have a lot of salary cap space available. They entered the offseason projected to be over the cap but made a few moves to save space. - They released linebacker Jordan Hicks and had guard Justin Pugh and linebacker Devon Kennard take salary reductions. The converted a roster bonus into a signing bonus for receiver DeAndre Hopkins. - They also released defensive lineman Jordan Phillips but, because he was designated a post-June 1 cut, his salary savings do not hit the cap until June 2. - Both the NFLPA website and Over the Cap have the Cardinals with 63 players under contract. The one contract that is not reflected at the time of publishing is linebacker Zeke Turner. - The cap space the Cardinals have varies a little. - As of Saturday, according to Over the Cap, the Cardinals have a little less than $7.4 million in cap space. The NFLPA, though, has their cap space at a little more than $5.3 million. - Turner’s contract will reduce that some because it will bump another player out of the top 51. - Needless to say, the Cardinals will need to make some moves if they are going to make any other additions in free agency. - - List - - Cardinals go O-line, CB with 2 first picks in new 7-round mock draft simulation - - - - - - - Listen to the latest from Cards Wire’s Jess Root on his podcast, Rise Up, See Red.
