The Chicago Bears have added some depth on their offensive line with the signing of Dakota Dozier to a one-year deal, the team announced Wednesday. - Dozier, a former fourth-round pick by the New York Jets in 2014, has appeared in 76 career games, including 27 starts. He played with the Jets from 2015-18. Dozier was a full-time starter for the Minnesota Vikings at guard in 2020. - But Dozier spent most of the 2021 season on the Vikings’ practice squad and appeared in just six games, exclusively on special teams. All indications are that Dozier will serve as depth heading into training camp, and he could perhaps make the roster as a reserve. - - Got ourselves a bulldozier. - We have signed @BullDozier78 to a one-year contract. - — Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) March 23, 2022 - - - Dozier is the second offensive lineman signed by general manager Ryan Poles this offseason, where he joins former Green Bay Packers interior lineman Lucas Patrick. Patrick will be the starting center. - But it’s uncertain whether Dozier will compete as a starter or merely serve in a depth role. Although a depth role seems more likely considering Dozier’s track record. - - List - - What Bears still need after first wave of free agency - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bears Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bears Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
