Under new Coach Scotty Robertson the Pistons continued to struggle finishing in last place for the second straight season with an awful 21-61 record. Following the season the Pistons would begin to lay the foundation for the future by selecting Isiah Thomas, who had just led the University of Indiana to a National Championship with the 2nd overall pick.
