The Green Bay Packers are expecting to promote from within to replace offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who is finalizing a deal to become the new head coach of the Denver Broncos, per NFL Network. - Coach Matt LaFleur said the Packers would “absolutely” look to promote a coach already on staff to offensive coordinator if Hackett departed. And now it appears Hackett is headed to Denver to take over his own team. - LaFleur now must decide which coach on staff is best for the job. - “We have a lot of confidence in the guys we have on our staff. We have so many good guys. It’s not going to be an easy decision, let me tell you that,” LaFleur said. - Quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Luke Getsy and offensive line coach and run game coordinator Adam Stenavich appear to be prime candidates. Getsy has been an offensive coordinator in the past and has interviewed for open coordinator jobs this coaching cycle, while Stenavich is a rising star in the business and has done a terrific job handling the offensive line during his first three seasons in Green Bay. - It’s certainly possible Hackett will attempt to bring Getsy or Stenavich along with him to Denver, which could complicate the process for LaFleur and the Packers. - LaFleur said the Packers already had a plan in place in case Hackett got a job, so the process of identifying and promoting the new coordinator shouldn’t take long. - Hackett was a strong and positive personality in the Packers offensive coaching staff. He worked alongside LaFleur to build the plan, especially in the red zone. - - RelatedBroncos finalizing deal to hire Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett as new head coach - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Packers Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Packers Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
