Though it won’t go on his official accolades record, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was voted as the deserved MVP by his peers at the 2022 Pro Bowl in Las Vegas. - The Athletic’s Greg Auman conducted the anonymous poll dubbed the “Pro Bowl Confidential” to get the takes of 20 Pro Bowl players on several topics. Ranging from MVP to the league’s COVID-19 protocols, the results are in. - Those results had Taylor receiving the most MVP votes. More than Tom Brady. More than Aaron Rodgers. - Rodgers or Brady for offensive MVP? How about neither? - We asked players to name their offensive and defensive MVPs for the 2021 season, and though the overall honor has been publicly debated between Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Bucs quarterback Tom Brady, neither won the players’ vote. - Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, who led the NFL with 1,811 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, took that honor easily, getting eight votes, twice as many as any other player before the final ballot was cast. Rodgers took second with five votes, and Brady took third with three votes, with Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow next with two votes. - It will be an uphill battle for Taylor to win the MVP award. He’s a running back first and foremost. That’s the biggest argument against his candidacy. But the Colts also failed to make the playoffs and while the voting should have nothing to do with the postseason, it’s rare for an MVP to be held out of the playoffs. - Taylor had a historic season in 2021 and the Colts are expecting him to be among the top rushers in the game for the next few years. - And while he might not win the MVP award for the 2021 campaign, he can at least take solace in the fact that his peers believe he’s deserving. - Like Colts Wire on Facebook - Follow Colts Wire on Twitter - Follow Kevin on Twitter (@KevinHickey11) - - RelatedPFF lists Colts' biggest offseason needs entering 2022Gus Bradley's first task: Fix the Colts' pass rushGus Bradley's leadership stood out in interview with Colts - - List - - 12 pending free agents the Colts should re-sign - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Colts Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Colts Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
