USAT: Giants Wire

The New York Giants officially announced the hiring of Brian Daboll as their next head coach on Friday night. - With Daboll now hired, the Giants will move onto staff building. They’ll need a new offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, special teams coordinator and position coaches. And as fate would have it, Daboll may already have some lined up. - Even before the Daboll hiring had been announced, speculation began regarding his potential assistants. And in the moments immediately after the Giants made things official, names began to fly. - As offensive coordinator, Ken Dorsey appears to be the hot name. And while many expect he’ll be promoted from passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator in Buffalo, there’s an outside chance Daboll lures him to East Rutherford. - - A beneficiary of Brian Daboll’s departure, Buffalo’s passing-game coordinator and QB coach Ken Dorsey is likely to become an offensive coordinator either with the Bills or Giants, per sources. - — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 28, 2022 - - - Landing a combination of Daboll and Dorsey would be a coup for the Giants. And general manager Joe Schoen did say he’d be blessed with whatever resources are required to hire the staff they want. Prying Dorsey away from the Bills would certainly not come cheap, but that promise from John Mara and Steve Tisch keeps New York in the game. - Defensively, things seem a little more clear. By all accounts, Daboll wants Don “Wink” Martindale, who was recently fired by the Baltimore Ravens, as his coordinator. However, as a fallback option, Patrick Graham remains in play (albeit it more on the outside looking in). - - One source told me the other day that Daboll intended to hire recently fired Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale as his Giants DC if he got this job. Pat Graham is under contract, but he is being pursued for DC & HC jobs elsewhere, too.
