As the football world anxiously awaits a Super Bowl LVI matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, many will be tuned into the pregame shows. - For fans of the New York Giants, they will want to tune into NBC at 2:30 p.m. ET specifically. - At that time, former Giants head coach and three-time Super Bowl champion, Tom Coughlin, will pay tribute to his lovely wife, Judy, and the 53 million caregivers around the country. - - As you are prepping for your Super Bowl watch party, tune in to your local NBC station at 2:30pm ET for the love story we all need as Coach Coughlin pays tribute to his wife Judy and shares a special message to the 53 million caregivers in the United States. pic.twitter.com/66nw9zK3mu - — Tom Coughlin Jay Fund (@tcjayfund) February 11, 2022 - - - In an emotional essay published in the New York Times last year, Coughlin revealed that Judy had been diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy — a brain disorder that is incurable. - “Our hearts are broken. Judy has been everything to our family. For the past four years, we’ve helplessly watched her go from a gracious woman with a gift for conversation, hugging all the people she met and making them feel they were the most important person in the room, to losing almost all ability to speak and move,” Tom wrote. - “She used to enjoy planning family get-togethers, going for morning walks and caring for her rosebushes; however, those activities are but distant memories. Her days are now filled with lying in bed, watching the Hallmark Channel, sitting in a wheelchair in the sun and receiving round-the-clock care. And what’s worse, she is trapped inside a body that will not allow her to be the person she was.” - Despite the hardships, Tom has stayed true to his wedding day vows. He will forever remain by Judy’s side. - “Taking care of Judy is a promise I made 54 years ago when she was crazy enough to say ‘I do,'” Tom added. “I do want the players I coached in college and in the N.F.L. who thought all my crazy ideas about discipline, commitment and accountability ended when they left the field to know that is not the case. The truth is that is when those qualities matter most. A friend said we don’t get to choose our sunset, and that’s true, but I am so blessed to get to hold Judy’s hand through hers.” - “Caregiving: The Ultimate Love Story” will be only the second time Tom has opened up about Judy, her condition and the life changes they’ve experienced. But in typical Tom fashion, he will not let the moment pass without acknowledging others who are in the same position as he is, and those who have volunteered their lives and dedicated their career to helping others. - Although Tom is Judy’s caregiver now, he’s long helped provide care for others through the Jay Fund Foundation. And anyone who finds Tom’s story sad or encouraging or motivational should give the Jay Fund a look and consider donating. - Follow the Giants Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Giants Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Giants Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
