The 2022 NFL draft is still more than two months away, but mock season waits for no one. Projections are coming in hot and heavy now that Super Bowl LVI has concluded, and that includes from our friends at Draft Wire. - In Luke Easterling’s latest mock, he has the New York Giants addressing multiple areas of need, beginning with North Carolina State offensive lineman Ikem Ekwonu. - If Brian Daboll is going to work any magic with Daniel Jones like he did with Josh Allen, the offensive line needs huge improvements. Drafting Ekwonu would be a big step in the right direction, adding a pro-ready blocker who earned all-conference honors at both guard and tackle. - Ekwonu has become the single most popular mock to the Giants, so there’s no use in beating a dead horse with further analysis. - At No. 7 overall, Easterling has the Giants nabbing Michigan edge rusher David Ojabo. - After addressing the offensive trenches with their first selection, the Giants use their additional top-10 pick to land an impact player for their defensive front. While Hutchinson grabbed more headlines in 2021, Ojabo was just as impressive, and deserves to be one of the first players off the board. - Another somewhat common mock selection for the Giants, and another who needs no further analysis. Giants fans are already familiar with him at this point. - Easterling has the Giants sticking with defense at No. 36, grabbing Georgia linebacker Quay Walker. With their next two picks, Big Blue returns to the offensive side of the ball, landing Georgia offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer and Clemson wide receiver Justyn Ross. - This wouldn’t be a terrible haul for general manager Joe Schoen, but the Giants hope to do better overall. - Follow the Giants Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Giants Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Giants Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
