- - - The New York Giants are seeking a starting right tackle this offseason, and with the fifth and seventh overall selections in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft, they’ll likely find one. - But right tackle isn’t New York’s only gaping hole on the offensive line. They actually have three others — both guard positions and center. - Come the new league year in eight days, the Giants will only have two guards under contract that are healthy (Ben Bredeson, Wes Martin) and two receiving from serious injuries (Nick Gates, Shane Lemieux). - Understandably, the Giants will be in the market for replacements and upgrades, especially considering the rancid performance of the unit last season. - - Every single player that suited up at guard for the Giants this year (besides Shane Lemieux & Nick Gates) averaged 2 pressures per game allowed per PFF (Ben Bredeson, Matt Skura, Wes Martin, Will Hernandez). - — Justin Penik (@JustinPenik) March 7, 2022 - - - The Giants also don’t have a center under contract other than Gates, and he is coming off a fractured leg that may keep him sidelined for some time, if not for posterity. That is unfortunate for him and the Giants as he was developing into a leader up front on offense. - So, that leaves the Giants looking for guards and a center on the open market. Some names to look out for are Ike Boettger, James Daniels, Connor Williams, Nate Herbig and Austin Corbett among others. Centers on the market that could interest the Giants are Mason Cole, Ryan Jensen, Bradley Bozeman and Trystan Colon-Castillo. - The Giants could be on the outside looking in on a lot of these players due to salary cap constraints which would mean they have to snag one or two in the draft. - - List - - Making the case for and against the Giants trading Saquon Barkley - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Giants Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Giants Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
