The New York Giants and their fans may have seen enough of embattled tight end Evan Engram, but the rest of the NFL still remains high on him. - Engram, an unrestricted free agent come Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, has agreed in principle to a one-year, $9 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. - - Former Giants’ TE Evan Engram intends to sign a one-year, fully-guaranteed 9 million deal that could go to $10 with incentives with the Jacksonville Jaguars, per me and @JFowlerESPN. - — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 14, 2022 - - - Engram, who will be 28 this September, was the 23rd overall selection out of Ole Miss back in 2017. He came out of the gate with a ton of promise, catching 64 passes for 722 yards and six touchdowns, and was named to PFWA All-Rookie Team. - Unfortunately for Engram (and the Giants), he could not top those numbers in his next four seasons as injuries and inconsistency dogged him year after year. - Engram became notorious for missing games and dropping passes, especially in key situations, which drew the ire of Giant fans. - In his defense, Engram played under three head coaches and four offensive coordinators in his five years, all of which could not find a steady role for him their offenses. - Engram is not the prototype in-line tight end and last season, the Giants decided to move him into the slot more. It’s expected he’ll see more of that role in 2022 with the Jaguars.
