As the New York Giants prepare for a spring minicamp and summer training camp, they need to stack their roster with talent for positional competitions to take place. The re-signing of Sandro Platzgummer is one of many moves that the Giants are making to do so. - Platzgummer is a prospect from Austria who was with the Giants the past several seasons via the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. - While Platzgummer has not yet made the final roster, the Austrian medical student did break off a highlight 48-yard rush during the 2021 preseason against the New York Jets, creating excitement from nearly everyone on the sideline, including fellow running back Saquon Barkley. - In 2022, Platzgummer’s international practice squad exemption expires. So if the Giants want to stash him on their reserve unit again this year, it will have to come at the expense of another player. - Although it’s a feather in Platzgummer’s cap to be re-signed, he’ll now have to convince general manager Joe Schoen, head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka that he’s worth keeping around. - Follow the Giants Wire Podcast: - Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Giants Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Giants Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
