The New York Giants hold two top 10 picks in the 2022 NFL draft. The burden of making both selections count will fall on the new general manager Joe Schoen. - The Giants have a plethora of needs entering the 2022 offseason and one need that has remained consistent for as long as Giants fans can remember is on the offensive line. - Specifically, in 2021, the Giants lacked any stability at the right tackle position. With a combination of Matt Peart and Nate Solder manning down that position, Giants quarterbacks were constantly pressured. - This is why NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah predicts that New York will select Ikem Ekwonu, a talented redshirt-sophomore out of N.C. State, with the fifth overall pick. - This would be a home-run pick for a team in need of upgrades along the offensive line. Andrew Thomas has emerged as a legit starter, but the Giants need more help for Daniel Jones. Ekwonu is strong, powerful and nasty. - Ekwonu was a bulldozer in college as he dominated in the run game and locked down his side of the line in pass protection. The 6-foot-4 320 pound tackle should be able to come in and make an instant difference playing alongside Andrew Thomas. - With the seventh overall pick, Jeremiah predicts that the Giants will select Devin Lloyd, a senior linebacker out of Utah. The Giants are in need of a versatile linebacker to pair up with Blake Martinez and Lloyd would provide just that. - Lloyd is a fun player to study. He flies around the field and makes a bunch of plays on the ball. His intangibles are off the charts. I could see the 2021 Pac-12 Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year emerge as a key leader for the Giants’ defense. - Lloyd had an amazing breakout season in 2021 where he did almost everything for the Utes. He recorded 111 tackles, eight sacks, four interceptions, and two touchdowns. He was a true difference-maker which is why he earned 2021 Pac-12 Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year. - - List - - 15 head coach candidates Giants could consider - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Giants Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Giants Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
