Former New York Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes knows a thing or two about kicking clutch field goals in the postseason. He is the only player in the history of the NFL to kick two overtime game-winning field goals in the playoffs. - In the 2007 NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers, Tynes kicked the longest field goal in Lambeau Field’s postseason history — 47 yards — to propel the Giants into Super Bowl XLII. Four years later, his 31-yarder in overtime in the 2011 NFC Championship Game sent the Giants back to the Super Bowl. - This week, another former Giant kicker Robbie Gould, now with San Francisco, corresponded with Tynes to gather some advice as he headed out to Lambeau for the divisional playoff game against the Packers. - - Robbie Gould texted Lawrence Tynes (NY Giants).who nailed a FG of similar length to eliminate Green Bay in the cold in a previous NFC title, during the week for advice. - It worked - — David Lombardi (@LombardiHimself) January 23, 2022 - - - - Wow. @lt4kicks told us on Blue Rush podcast that Robbie Gould called him this week for advice on how to kick in these conditions in Green Bay. - Gould just kicked the 49ers to the NFC Championship. - Credit goes to Lawrence Tynes - — Jake Brown (@JakeBrownRadio) January 23, 2022 - - - Coincidentally, Gould, who was with the Giants in 2016, hit a 45-yarder with no time left to seal a 13-10 upset victory for the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night.
