- - - The Seahawks tried their best to sign gargantuan offensive tackle Trent Brown, who we had identified as the top free agent target for Seattle this offseason. Unfortunately, Brown never wanted to leave New England and agreed to re-sign with the Patriots on Monday after getting wooed by Seattle all weekend. Coach Pete Carroll told KJR radio yesterday that the team didn’t get too far on that front. - That leaves the Seahawks in a bad position at OT. Both left tackle Duane Brown and right tackle Brandon Shell are free agents and getting plenty of interest on the open market. Carolina is reportedly pursuing Brown, while Denver is recruiting Shell. Carroll also admitted yesterday that this position is a spot that’s really of concern. - - Pete Carroll, on @933KJR with @Softykjr and @dickfain, said OT is a "spot that's really of concern" for the Seahawks. Duane Brown and Brandon Shell are still unsigned. Asked about Brown, said they'd love to re-sign him. Comments on Shell implied he's also still in play. - — Brady Henderson (@BradyHenderson) March 23, 2022 - - - All of the other notable free agent OTs are also off the board. La’El Collins signed a huge three-year deal with the Bengals and Terron Armstead got a big five-year contract from the Dolphins. - The Seahawks also don’t have much salary cap room left to fill those holes. According to Over the Cap, they have $16.5 million remaining. - The plan may be to address these positions in the 2022 NFL draft, which is supposed to be deep at OT. - - RelatedColin Kaepernick working out in Seattle today with another Seahawks WR - - List - - Seahawks: Contract details for new players, re-signings, salary cap update - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Seahawks Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Seahawks Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
