Any starting tight end that puts on a Tennessee Titans uniform from now until eternity will live in the shadow of Delanie Walker, who was one of the best tight ends in franchise history, along with Frank Wycheck. - And that’s something new Titans tight end Austin Hooper is well aware of. - In his introductory press conference earlier this week, Hooper noted how great Walker was but also realizes all he can do is be the best version of himself. - “What Delanie did here is special; love Delanie, great dude,” Hooper said. “Yeah, what he did there is special, and I’m going to let Delanie be Delanie. He’s the best to do it at, you know… So, I’m not going to try and say anything about that, I’m just going to try to be the best version of myself and go out there and compete every day.” - Walker spent seven seasons in Nashville, and during that time he became one of the best tight ends in the NFL. He was selected to three Pro Bowls and posted four 800-plus yard seasons, including a 1,000-yard campaign. - He finished his Titans tenure with 381 receptions for 4,423 yards and 29 total touchdowns. That receiving yardage total ranks ninth in franchise history and second among tight ends, trailing only Wycheck. - Unfortunately, injury plagued his final two seasons in Nashville, leading to his being cut in 2020. Regardless, Walker’s impact on the franchise during some of its darkest days will never be forgotten. - - RelatedTitans trade up, select QB Sam Howell in NFL.com mock draftTitans have top-30 visit scheduled with TE Trey McBrideThe sneaky aspect of Robert Woods’ game that can elevate Titans’ offense - - List - - What Titans' Robert Woods said at introductory press conference - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Titans Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Titans Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
